Un peu d'histoire
Propriété de l'Abbaye de Lucelle puis de l'Abbaye de Murbach, ce village viticole fut acquis par l'évêque de Strasbourg au début du XIVè siècle. Il forma une prévôté du bailliage de Soultz incluse dans le Haut-Mundat. Les WALDNER DE FREUNDSTEIN devinrent propriétaires du village en 1760 par échange avec celui de Schweinheim dans le Bas-Rhin. La localité fut détruite à 90% durant la première guerre mondiale.
